Kašperské Hory

This friendly little town came into existence when in the 14th century large quantities of gold ore were found in the vicinity. On the road from Vimperk to the old mountain town of Kašperské Hory you pass the ruins of the 14th century castle of Kašperk, once build on the border with Bavaria.

Klatovy

This city with 23.000 inhabitants is also called 'the northern gate to the Šumava'. Klatovy has a beautiful historic skyline; two buildings dominate the up high situated market square. The Černá Věž, in English the Black Tower, was build by the Dutch architect Antonie Salvelly in the year 1555.
